The racism and violence of the English Defence League has been exposed by the Guardian newspaper after an undercover investigation.

Reporter Matthew Taylor says:

At each demonstration I attended while making an undercover film for the Guardian’s investigative film unit, Guardian Films, I was confronted by casual – often brutal – racism, a widespread hatred of Muslims and often the threat of violence.

His report – which includes undercover video footage of EDL supporters – details the EDL’s plans to “hit” major multiracial, multicultural cities such as Bradford, as part of their racist anti-muslim hate campaign.

The Guardian warns that the EDL is:

a movement that, although chaotic and beset by infighting, seems to be growing in scope and sometimes violence
