UAF officer Martin Smith spoke to supporters outside the court after his conviction for assault on a police officer – and maintained his innocence of the charge.
What you can do
UAF believes the verdict is an attack on the right to protest against racism and fascism. But Martin, who is also national coordinator of Love Music Hate Racism, pledged to keep on fighting against fascism.
Around 200 demonstrators, with placards and union banners, gathered outside the court to show their support.
Amid a tube strike, protestors came from across London – and included Oxford postal workers and supporters from as far afield as Manchester.
See his speech – and that of UAF join secretary Weyman Bennett in this video.
