UAF and “We Are Waltham Forest” stewards lead off the march on 1 September.

The racist thugs of the English Defence League (EDL) have announced that they will be returning to Walthamstow on 27 October. On 1 September 2012 the EDL attempted to stage a provocative march and hate rally in the east London borough. The EDL only managed to mobilise 200 of its hard-core supporters.

In a magnificent display of unity over 4,000 people of every religion, race, age, sexuality and gender staged a unity demonstration that prevented the EDL rally. Humiliated, the EDL leadership has announced that it will try and march again through Walthamstow on 27 October.

Unite Against Fascism and “We Are Waltham Forest” have announced a counter demonstration in Walthamstow on 27 October to make it clear that these racists and fascist thugs will never be welcome on our streets.

The EDL is dedicated to attacking Asian people and Muslims. Islamophobia or bigotry against Muslims is as unacceptable as any other form of racism.
