Dudley: unity festival against fascist Britain First, 9 May

Britain First – a splinter group from the fascist British National PartyDudley UAF is organising a unity festival to bring the community together against the fascists of Britain First on Saturday 9 May.

The festival will take place at Castle Hill/Castle Street, Dudley, from 11am to 3pm. The event is backed by Dudley Trades Union Council and Love Music Hate Racism.

There will be free music and performances by the Banner Theatre, antiracist band Thatcher’s Love Child, plus punk, ska, reggae and hip hop from DJ Shaka T, Issy and Liv, and other acts.

In February, local people came together to oppose the fascist and racist street thugs of the English Defence League. Now they are ready to show their opposition to fascist splinter group Britain First. A student from King Edwards College, Dudley, says

In Dudley on 7 Feb it was great to stand together with a couple of hundred antiracists to oppose the EDL and listen to some great music for free. I’ll be there on 9 May to oppose this small bunch of Nazis.
