Refugees Welcome Here Sat 12 Sept

Saturday 12 September 2015

12pm Assemble Marble Arch for march to Downing Street

2pm Rally Downing Street

National day of action, Called by Stand up to Racism, Unite Against Fascism, BARAC, Stop the War Coalition, Migrant Rights Network, Syria Solidarity Movement, War on Want, Peoples Assembly Against Austerity, Movement Against Xenophobia, Love Music Hate Racism, Black Out London and others. Supported by the Refugee Council and Amnesty International

The UN’s humanitarian agencies are on the verge of bankruptcy and unable to meet the basic needs of millions of people because of the size of the refugee crisis in the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

On Saturday Stand up to Racism organised an aid convoy to Calais. People on our convoy described the makeshift camps as “squalid”, “slums” and worse than refugee camps in Syria’s neighbouring countries.

This refugee crisis should not be left to kind hearted individuals and charities – it cannot meet the needs and scale of the crisis itself.

We must a strong message to David Cameron that the British government must do more to help refugees. The government is refusing to take refugees currently stranded in Europe, including those stuck in Calais only 100 miles away from Britain.

Here’s what you can do:

Tell David Cameron to act! Join us this Saturday 12 September in what is set to be the biggest demonstration in defence of refugee rights for two decades.
