Ex UKIP leadership candidate and friend of fascist Tommy Robinson, Anne Marie Waters brought her ‘For Britain’ anti muslim campaign to Stockton, in the North East last Saturday.

It  was as part of a ‘Gays Against Sharia’ series of islamophobic ventures which various fractions of the far right have long promoted. Waters national turnout of around 50 was bettered by local anti racists who ensured that Waters goons did not have things all their own way.

Unite the union, Unison and the Teeside People’s Assembly, alongside anti fascists, ensured that a strong anti racist message was heard. The nature of For Britain’s politics were clear from the appearance of Teesside local Tommy English, aka Tommy Cook, an ex EDL member and fan of Tommy Robinson.

For Britain and Robinson supporters drove a vehicle around the town carrying a billboard saying “Free Tommy Robinson” — Robinson is of course, currently imprisoned for 13 months for contempt of court in Leeds. Fortunately, the weather intervened and did the right thing, concerning this racist van, see below.

Stockton Labour councillor Louise Baldock said: “A handful of grubby-looking fascists turned up in Stockton today. Our large, peaceful, singing presence made it abundantly clear that our town is proud to be diverse and united.”

Other speakers at the anti-fascist event were Barbara Campbell, Stockton North CLP women’s officer and Unite the Union, Stand Up To Racism’s Yunus Bakhsh and a GMB youth organiser. There is to be a Stand Up To Racism group formed this week in Stockton.

Despite hitching herself to the coat tails of the ‘Free Robinson’ Waters has not recovered from the drubbing For Britain received in the recent, Lewisham by election, http://uaf.org.uk/2018/06/far-right-anne-marie-waters-for-britain-humbled-by-inspiring-anti-racist-demo-in-lewisham/

She will look to play a role alongside Robinson, on his release. For now at least, her new party, stuffed full of ex BNP members and organisers is showing no sign of growth.
